Races information and results

This is sort of how things got started with the race bikes and racing. In 1990 I joined a motorclub at Zandvoort, De Motor- en Autoclub Zandvoort (MACZ), and started to do a bit of laps on my very heavy GS 750. I found out I had to learn a lot and how to behave on a proper circuit. Very different from riding on the street. I slowly got the hang of it  and was going a little faster every time around, this bike was heavy though, weaving and scratching the exhaustpipe in turns. I did this track thing  6 times per year  for very little money and loads of fun. Just street bikes allowed, which made it for interesting riding, old and new all together.

XT 600 yamaha

I took both of these bikes to the track, but what a difference. One was heavy and you really had to hang it in a turn but not too deep, otherwise it would hit the pipe or engine. Also it had such handeling problems in turns, weaving like a wet newspaper as the Dutch say. The XT 600 was a bit the same , but it was so high and the braking was a monster thing to do. It would travel so deep in the suspension, like loosing your front wheel. Well, they are just not made for tracks in that state. Still fun to try though!

I had to try to wheely this 1000 kawasaki. I was goofing around on a go-kart track at Zandvoort. Dragging the pipe and footrests. fun stuff

A perfect looking RD 400 Yamaha. It was so quick for such a little bike. Then I had this thought to change it a little.....

TZ350 cc / between 73-80 hp!!!

I bought this TZ 350cc engine. Nice hey! Lots of power, dry clutch and very fast cylinders. So this is how it all started. I had the RD 400cc that I kept blowing up. So I took it apart and ripped all excess stuff off the frame and installed the TZ motor. I kept buying little things for it and soon I had a "sort of" racer. Later I bought the orignal TZ frame and some lighter wheels. That thing was flying!!

It turned out like this, I liked it at the time, but unfortunately I kept blowing the poor thing up. That is enough....

TZ engine in RD frame

And then it looks something like this. I tested it several times in a remote place in Amsterdam. Sounded cool and felt pretty fast. I never had a problem with this engine ever!!
